About

Galat baat — Hindi/Urdu for “wrong talk.” This is a publication about calling out the wrong take: in technology, business, markets, science, and the systems that quietly govern all three.

What this is

Most writing about technology and business explains what happened. This publication is interested in why it had to happen — the structural forces, incentive designs, and mental models underneath the news. An essay here is meant to still be useful in five years, which rules out most commentary about this quarter.

Abstract theory is always anchored in something physical. Bottlenecks are explained through a factory floor, not a metaphor. Supply chain volatility is explained through the semiconductor shortage that stopped car plants. If a concept cannot survive contact with a real system, it probably is not worth writing about.

How it’s organised

Three axes, deliberately. Each essay sits in exactly one category, carries several topics, and is linked to the concepts it depends on — so the same idea can be reached from the subject you were reading about or the mental model you were chasing.
